Match Report - Black Country Rangers 6 Longbridge Colts 1
Sunday 3rd September saw BCR at home to Longbridge Colts as our first game of the 2006/7 season. After a bright start the scoring was opened by Chad Willets who pounced to rifle home a low shot which the keeper had no chance with, minutes later a further goal was added by JT , to make it two nil, further pressure from BCR resulted in a third, again by Chad. BCR continued to press forward and should have been awarded a penalty. Longbridge were very quick to close us down and were awarded a dubious penalty in the first half which they converted. In response to this Scott Davies got on the score sheet to make it 4-1 to BCR. The second half continued in the same vien with BCR having the majority of possession and chances, two further goals were added, another by Scott and one by Greg Whitehouse. A good start to the season 6-1 to BCR.
Match Report - Black Country Rangers 3 Trysull Tigers1
Sunday 10th Sept saw BCR travel to the home of Trysull Tigers. The match was played in difficult conditions due to the hot weather and 3 first teamers being unavailable due to illness. From kick off we pressed and Trysull did the same, it was a fast paced first half with the best chances falling to BCR, just before half time, and whipped in cross by Scott Davies was rifled home by Daniel Bremner, half time 1- nil to BCR. Second half continued in the same vein with both teams creating a few opportunties. 10 minutes from the end a slip by BCR allowed Trysull to gain an equaliser. The lads resposned very well, within 3 minutes we were up 3-1, firstly Scott Davies scored a great goal, followed by a perfectly placed shot by JT. The last five minutes were played out a fast pace by both team, with BCR finishing up as winners. Man of the Match for a battling Midfield performace - Matt Holland and a further man of the match for a great afternoon in goal with some fine saves and excellent kicking - Nick James
Match Report - Black Country Rangers 3 Bilbrook 4
Sunday 17th Sept 06. Saw BCR take on Bilbrook East away, we knew this would be a tough game, and had several problems before kick off with 3 first teamers out. With only 11 players available we had to change a few things round, We started brightly and hit Bilbrook like lighting we were 2nil up inside 2 minutes, Bilbrook hit back to make it 2-1., then futher pressure by us, left us vulnerable at the back, 2-2 . Bilbrook got an equaliser, then to make matters worse a speculative cross/shot was turned into our own net, own goal making it 3-2 to bilbrook. After the break we started brightly again attacking, and were caught on the counter, 4-2 to Bilbrook, we kept pressing and got a third goal for us, to make it 4-3, with 5 minutes left. We pressed and pressed but couldn't find that 4th goal, Final score 4-3 to Bilbrook. Goals scored by Scott Davies and JT (2). We look forward to the rematch. when hopefully we will have our first team available.
Match Report - Black Country Rangers 8 Fens Pool Colts 0
Sunday 24th Sept saw Fens Pool Colts travel to Castle View to take us on in the league. As the only team to beat BCR last season we knew this would be a tough match. For the first time in four weeks, we had injured players back , and had also signed a new player Mason. Although we still had two players unavailable this is the strongest squad we have had to date this season. The game started at a good pace, and it wasn't long before we were testing their Goal keeper. the first goal was scored by Scott Davies who headed home a powerful corner whipped in by Matt Holland, a few minutes later Dan Bremner beat the off side trap and the out rushing goal keeper to chip in a great goal. The attack continued with a another goal for Scott and a further one for Dan. Mason playing his debut for BCR then also popped up to score his first goal for us. Half time BCR 5 Fens Pool 0. Second half continued in the same way, with all three players again scoring. The final score was 8-0, and I must saw every goal was clever worked and clinically executed. A good Performance all round. Goals by Scott Davies (3), Daniel Bremner (3) and Mason McCormack (2), needless to say these three were also nominated as man of the match.
Match Report - Black Country Rangers 5 New State Lions 0
Sunday 1st October saw a rest from the league pressures. With a first round tie away in the South Staffs Cup. BCR travelled to Willenhall to play New State Lions. The game was underway no more than a minute when a divine pass from Dan, set Scott free on the right, Scott took his time and scored a perfectly placed goal, two minutes later Dan raced free and scored to make it two nil to BCR, midway through the first half Scott scored a further goal , followed by another goal from Mason. Half time New State Lions 0 - BCR 4. The second half started at blistering pace again, with another BCR goal in the opening minutes. Another by Mason to make it 5 nil. The rest of the game then sort of fizzled out, BCR continued to attack but without any really threat. A good result , and through to the second round. Goals by Daniel Bremner, Scott Davies (2) and Mason McCormack (2).
